Historic Farmhouse
A 1740s farmhouse rebuilt from the structure outward, preserving the character of the original house while making it work for modern life.
This project was a full structural rehabilitation of an eighteenth-century farmhouse. The house was carefully jacked in place while portions of the original fieldstone foundation were rebuilt, with a new concrete wall poured inside to provide a stable structural bearing for the restored frame.
Above, extensive timber-frame repair and reconstruction allowed us to preserve as much original material as possible, including reclaimed collar ties from the existing house. The interiors pair custom cabinetry and historic details with modern HVAC, electrical, and everyday amenities.
The goal was not to make the house feel new, but to give it another century of life without losing the irregularity, warmth, and character that made it worth saving.
